Shopify’s native contact form doesn’t support conditional fields or numeric ranges: this had to be built around it, not with it

Requirements

Spec a made-to-measure curtain, strip type, width, height, marker, track, overlap, quantity, directly on the product page

Guardrails on width and height so a customer can’t request a size the material doesn’t come in

Implementation

Custom PDP section reading option ranges from product metafields, so limits update if the client changes what’s orderable

Implementation

Custom PDP section reading the per-m² price off the variant, recalculating on every slider or input change with vanilla JS

Calculator output synced back into Shopify’s native add-to-cart, not a disconnected widget

Built to sit inside the client’s existing PDP template without overriding product.liquid

Shopify Challenges

Shopify prices by variant, not by arbitrary area, the calculator has to translate “m² required” into a cart quantity that still matches the per-unit price

Rounding rules (whole units vs. exact m²) needed to match how the client actually invoices

What’s Next

Trade and bulk pricing breaks as the entered area crosses set thresholds

A coverage estimator that suggests area from vehicle or driveway dimensions
Wall-area price calculator for a soundproofing store

Requirements

Convert wall width × height into the number of fixed-size boards needed, not just a raw area figure

Show the actual area next to the rounded board count, so the customer understands the maths

Flag that wastage allowance isn’t included, to avoid under-ordering disputes

Implementation

JS calculator reading board size and coverage from the product/variant, rounding up to whole boards, then pricing off the live variant

Quantity stepper wired to the same calculation, so manual adjustments still show the correct area and price

Shipped as a section block so the client can drop it onto other acoustic-panel PDPs without a developer

Shopify Challenges

Every acoustic product has a different board size and coverage, the calculator reads that per product instead of being hardcoded

Rounding has to favor the client (round up) without confusing the customer about why 1m × 1m needs more than one board

What’s Next

A wastage-allowance toggle (e.g. +10%) for cut-heavy installs

Save a calculation and email it, for trade buyers speccing multiple rooms
Roll and cut-length calculator for safety flooring

Requirements

One product page, two ways to buy: a full roll at roll price, or a cut length priced per m²

Roll size and thickness selected first, since both feed the price

Implementation

Two linked calculators on one PDP, enter m² required for roll pricing, plus a separate cut-length-by-m² price, both reading off the selected variant

Roll-size and thickness selectors drive which variant, and therefore which price, each calculator reads

Both paths add to cart through Shopify’s standard cart, so fulfillment data stays clean

Shopify Challenges

Roll price and cut-length price aren’t the same variant, both calculators have to stay in sync with whichever selection is active

Keeping two calculators on one PDP legible instead of a wall of inputs

What’s Next

Show price-per-m² on both paths side by side, so trade buyers can compare before choosing

Remember the last-used roll size and thickness for repeat trade customers
Secure login for a Shopify operations web app

Requirements

Keep an internal stock and operations tool off the public internet, without adding friction for the two or three staff who use it daily

No customer-facing account system needed, just a controlled way in for the operations team

Implementation

Standalone PHP login gate in front of the tool, session-based access, kept deliberately minimal since it’s an internal utility

Auth layer built so the tools behind it call the Shopify Admin API using the client’s own credentials, not a shared login

Shopify Challenges

The tool touches live stock data, so the login needed to be solid from day one, not hardened later

Keeping staff logins entirely separate from Shopify’s own customer accounts

What’s Next

Basic role separation, view-only vs. can-run-updates, as more staff start using it

Swap the password login for the client’s existing SSO if the team grows
Move Inventory, supplier CSV to Shopify stock sync

Requirements

Match a supplier’s stock CSV (SKU, barcode, stock) against a Shopify stock export (SKU, HS code, stock) without manual spreadsheet work

Clear column-header requirements shown on the page itself, so the wrong file can’t silently get uploaded

Implementation

PHP tool parsing both CSVs, matching rows by SKU, falling back to barcode where SKUs don’t line up, and diffing stock counts

Output built in the same shape the client already re-imports through their update process

Header validation before processing, so a mismatched file fails fast with a clear message

Shopify Challenges

Shopify’s own inventory export doesn’t carry the supplier’s SKU/barcode mapping, so the two feeds had to be reconciled entirely outside Shopify before anything touched stock levels

SKU formatting differs slightly between the supplier feed and Shopify, matching had to tolerate that without over-matching

What’s Next

Push the reconciled stock straight to Shopify via the Admin API instead of exporting a CSV to re-import
